GAIA (Global Aids Interfaith Alliance)
The GAIA NetGain project takes advantage of the existing village network of GAIA caregivers, already trained in health education and working in their villages to respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The caregivers educate people about malaria, its causes, how to prevent it, and the importance of getting prompt treatment for malaria-like symptoms. They teach them how to use bednets, how to repair, maintain, and re-treat them. Then they distribute the nets and check back periodically to assure that villagers continue to use them properly.

Malawi
NetGain-Malawi placed ITNs in 8 villages in southern Malawi in November 2006 (population ~ 3,000). Volunteer women followed the malaria status in these 8 villages for 6 months during the rainy season, as well as malaria status in 4 nearby villages without ITNs. In June, 2007 it was determined that malaria incidence had declined by 77% in the netted villages compared to the nearby non-netted villages.
