Book Exchange

The Book Exchange of Marin is a community service organization run entirely by volunteers who believe in the power of literacy to change lives. Promoting child literacy, encouraging a love of reading, and working to ensure that all children have access to books, Graystone Builders and the Milagro Foundation believe strongly in the power of children building home libraries. The Book Exchange offers under-resourced children free books to own and take home and share with their families.

Extra Food
2024

Food insecurity has been a primary focus of Milagro’s philanthropy partner, David Smith. ExtraFood’s mission is to end hunger and wasted food in the Bay Area, California. Recovering excess fresh food from businesses, schools, and gardens, it is immediately delivered to people facing food insecurity.

Three Square
2021 and 2022

Food equity for children is a priority for David Smith. Santana’s residency at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas provides a perfect partnership opportunity among Carlos’ Milagro Foundation, Graystone Builders and Three Square. Graystone’s donation of $50,000 was matched by donors for a total of $100,000 raised for Three Square.

Conscious Kitchen
2019, 2020, 2023, 2024

In 2019 and 2020, Graystone Builders of New Hampshire donated $110,000 to the Milagro Foundation to benefit the Conscious Kitchen. It continues to be the goal of David Smith to ensure children get at least one meal to look forward to each day. Through a collaborative, replicable approach, Conscious Kitchen partners with schools and communities to break the cycle of conventional, packaged, overly processed food, transitioning to meals based on five foundational attributes: fresh, local, organic, seasonal, nutritious.

Music Will (Little Kids Rock)
2020 and 2022

David Smith was interested in providing music instruction for children in his home state of New Hampshire’s public schools. Thanks to David, private donors were inspired to match Graystone's donation of $55,000 to raise $110,000 for Little Kids Rock's Modern Band music program. In 2022, Graystone partnered with musician John Davidson to raise an additional $62,000 for Music Will (formerly Little Kids Rock) for the expansion of these music programs to more schools in New Hampshire.

World Central Kitchen
2022, 2023, 2024

In 2022 in response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, Graystone Builders Inc. and Carlos Santana’s Milagro Foundation jointly sent emergency relief funds to WCK, providing meals to children and their families seeking safety and shelter from the war. Graystone and Milagro continue to support WCK during all humanitarian crises around the world.

End 68 Hours of Hunger
2020

Offering a matching challenge grant in 2020 from Graystone Builders Inc. of New Hampshire and partnering with Carlos Santana’s Milagro Foundation, $50,000 was raised for the organization in founder David Smith’s home state of New Hampshire.

Operation Genesis
2022, 2023

During the holiday season in December, David Smith (Graystone Builders) and Carlos Santana's Milagro Foundation together provided funds for essential supplies and children's toys for needy families in San Francisco.
